Multiple agencies respond

PIONEER, TN (WLAF) – First responders were paged out to Flatwoods Road at 7:29am Friday. Flatwoods Road is just before the TWRA Shooting Range off Exit 141 of I-75 near the Short Mountain turn-off. Three Campbell County EMS Units, Caryville Police, the Campbell County Rural Fire Service, TWRA, the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office and Animal Control responded to possible overdoses of four individuals.

In temperatures hovering around freezing, first responders soon arrived to find four patients likely suffering from overdoses. One of the patients actually called E-911, officials said.

Not along after arriving, first responders deemed one of the four, a female, dead, according to an official. The other patients, two males and a female, one critical and two others still needing emergency care, were transported by ambulance with a sheriff’s escort to the La Follette Medical Center.

The victims were found in a Jeep in a parking area not far from the TWRA shooting range, according to one official. The multiple patients were said to be from a neighboring county. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 03/29/2024-1PM)
