Steven Mackensie Holstein was speeding on Hwy 116 and ended up in jail.

Deputy John Minor was conducting radar enforcement last Friday when he observed Holstein traveling 58 mph in a 45-mph zone. When Minor made contact with Holstein, he noticed a strong smell of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle and saw that his eyes were blood shot, according to the report. At this point Holstein, was asked if there was any marijuana in the vehicle and he allegedly said “no, he had smoked it about an hour earlier. He continued saying Minor could search the vehicle if he wanted to.”  Nothing illegal was found during the search.

Holstein was given a series of field sobriety tests and told Minor he was about a two on the impairment level of a scale of one to 10.

Holstein, 18, 182 Park Place Road, Caryville is charged with speeding and driving under the influence (DUI). (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 04/11/2019-6AM)
