CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF) – A white Toyota Tacoma was recently traveling on Hwy 25W when Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputy Jacob Fox saw the truck cross over the fog line nearly running into the ditch. The Toyota then drove over the lane markers nearly going into the center median. As Fox was attempting to stop the pick-up, the driver pulled into the emergency lane continuing for a while before finally stopping in the ditch just before Queener Road near Cove Lake State Park, according to a report from the sheriff’s office.

Fox made contact with the driver identified as Caleb Glenn Dunn and asked him to step out of the truck for field sobriety tests. As Dunn was getting out of the vehicle, Fox reported that he could smell the odor of alcohol. During the field sobriety test Dunn was asked if he had drank any alcohol, and he allegedly stated that he had three beers in Alcoa before coming home. He also reported that he was diabetic. Deputy Fox asked Dunn if he felt that his blood sugar was abnormal, he stated that he did not feel that it was, and he felt fine. The deputy asked if there were any weapons inside the truck, and Dunn reported that there was a loaded 12 gauge shotgun in the backseat and a loaded 45 in the center console.

After Dunn was arrested and placed in Fox’s patrol car, he retrieved the weapons from Dunn’s vehicle and found a Rock Island .45 ACP handgun in the center console that was loaded and a loaded 12 gauge pump action shotgun in the backseat of the Toyota.

Dunn, 24, 1275 Powell Valley Shores, Speedwell was charged with driving under the influence (DUI), possession of a handgun under the influence and failure to maintain lane. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 12/20/2021-6AM)
