Juanita Vann Ausmus, age 77 of Caryville passed away Thursday February 3, 2022.  She was born on December 18, 1944 in Caryville, TN.  Juanita was a retired educator from Jacksboro Technology Center and Roane State Community College. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Lincoln Memorial University May 1991. During that time, she worked at Balloff’s department store as the bookkeeper.

A supporting wife and mother that graciously helped many family members as well as her students reach their goals and potential. All that loved and knew her will miss her dearly.

Preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Ralph David Ausmus, her parents James & Ruth Vann and brother Paul Vann. She is survived by two sons and daughter in laws, Dwight & Becky Ausmus, Aaron & Misty Ausmus, grandsons Dakota and Kyndra Heck, Max & Bo Ausmus, great grandchildren Berkley & Blakelee Heck and sisters Bernadine & Jim Johnson and Nadine & James Watson.

Family will receive friends at Cross-Smith Funeral Home Sunday Feb. 6, 2022 from 4-6 PM with funeral service to follow at 6 PM with Reverend Dakota Heck officiating. Family and friends will meet Monday Feb 7th, 10 AM at Cross-Smith Funeral Home and proceed to Fincastle Cemetery for an 11am Interment.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the wonderful staff of Cumberland Village for taking care of Juanita and loving her like family for the past 2 years.

  1. Juanita and I were very good friends. I will miss her so much. God Bless each and every one of her family members, she spoke of them often, she loved them so much.
