JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – The Town of Jacksboro has hired two additional police officers and accepted one resignation. On Thursday night, the Jacksboro Board of Mayor and Aldermen hired Shayne Wilburn as a full- time officer and Brian Hurst as a part-time officer.

The board also accepted the resignation of Officer Casey Geisler.

Jeannie Higdon has been before the board several times about her apartments on Myers Street that burned a few years ago. She has been working to bring the property into compliance. On Thursday night, the board agreed to suspend the demolition order contingent upon her continuing to make progress and following all current building rules.

A resolution was accepted for the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) proposal for new signalization at Eagle Bluff Rd and Appalachian Hwy. The board approved paying $9,931; half of the cost for road work on Paris Nance Rd. The county road department will be working to remove a hump in the road and paving the road.
