LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Friday night to Saturday night wind storms netted damage to homes and businesses, thousands of power outages, countless fallen trees, roof damage and scattered debris. Gusts as high as 60 miles per hour ravaged Campbell County, though it may have been the sustained winds of 20-30 miles per hour that were most unforgiving.

This was the second wind storm to hit Campbell County in less than a month, and strong wind gusts are forecast again beginning late tonight.

“LUB General Manager Kenny Baird called it a “tough one.” “There were lots of individual cases of trouble,” said Baird. Upwards of 3,000 LUB customers were without power at the height of the wind storm on Saturday afternoon.

Several crews with the Campbell County Highway Department were out all day Saturday. “We’ve had trees down all around Campbell County; Davis Chapel, Cedar Creek, Long Hollow, Stinking Creek and more,” said Tony Malone, Assistant Road Superintendent with the Campbell County Highway Department.

“We had less customers out in this latest storm. However, the problems were more difficult to fix due to the sustained winds,” said Baird.

  1. I’d like to thank everyone at LUB who helped to get the lights back on. Through your diligent work in adverse conditions, electricity was restored soon rather than later. THANK YOU!

  2. LUB did an AMAZING job getting our power back on. Thank you to everyone who worked so hard over the weekend.
