City of LaFollette’s balanced budget approved Tuesday

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Yesterday afternoon, The City of LaFollette Council met to finish work on the 2022-23 budget. In a matter of nine minutes, the council approved Resolution 2022-17 amending the 2021-22 budget. The resolution was to cover budget overages.

New tough-on-crime laws set to take effect July 1

NASHVILLE, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) – On Friday, several new laws will take effect to protect victims of crime and crack down on violent criminals. The changes to Tennessee’s criminal justice system include establishing truth and transparency in criminal sentencing. In addition, other new laws will strengthen penalties for violent offenses to maintain public safety.

Craig Davis is arrested after police pursuit through La Follette

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – The call of a possible 10-49 driver (driving while drunk) came in to La Follette Police Central Dispatch at 1:39 Tuesday afternoon. Soon LPD Officer Aaron Adkins spotted the black box style Scion with black wheels on East Central Avenue and pulled over the compact car.

Teacher evaluation criteria revised beginning July 1

NASHVILLE, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) – Tennessee Republican lawmakers this year approved a variety of new laws impacting Tennessee’s public schools that will go into effect Friday, July 1, 2022 – the beginning of the new fiscal year. Among these include legislation that will alleviate school staffing challenges, ensure fairness in girls’ sports, and prohibit school computers from accessing obscene materials.

LaFollette announces 4th of July fireworks and 125th celebration

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – A light agenda awaits the LaFollette City Council at the next regular scheduled meeting; Tue., July 5. At yesterday afternoon’s workshop, City Administrator Stan Foust welcomed LaFollette Police Captain Steve Wallen back to work after being off on administrative leave.
