NASHVILLE, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) – The FY 2022-2023 state budget includes more than $20 million to renovate campgrounds at two Campbell County state parks: Norris Dam State Park, which is slated to receive $12.04 million in upgrades, and Cove Lake State Park, which is set to receive $8.31 million.
“I was happy to support the governor’s budget, which includes funding for these transformative upgrades at two magnificent state parks,” said State Sen. Ken Yager. “These projects will make visiting these special places even more special and will serve as a catalyst for economic development and growth in Campbell County. I greatly look forward to seeing these improvements take shape.”
The project will renovate all campgrounds at both state parks, including upgrading utilities, paving roads, reconfiguring loop roads, adding ADA-accessible campsites, and replacing existing bathhouses with ADA-compliant bath and shower facilities.

$20,000,000 for those two parks. Does anyone use those parks to the tune of $20,000,000? Why not $20,000,000 to help improve our school system!
Another thought, I would be willing to wager that very little of that $20,000,000 will be spent in Campbell County during the construction phase.
Does that grant include the $400,000 per park to replace the community pools with other development?
My thoughts as well! People choosing campsites would also like to enjoy a pool. As would those living in the community.
I realize that locals use the campgrounds, but it looks like they are more concerned with upgrading for out of state campers. Closing the public pool was a ridiculous thing to do. Locals have basically no where to swim, unless you go to the lake, but that’s dangerous due to all of the boats everywhere!
I agree with the above comments. We have been without a pool for the past 2 years. All of our family has enjoyed that pool for many years. It needs to be restored and back in service for the children of our area. There is absolutely nothing for children in Campbell County to enjoy. The Campgrounds are in good shape. Fix the Pool.
